Our Racontours guides can offer wine tours that are not normally available from other tour companies – cellar tours and tastings conducted in the various cellars, hosted by the winemakers or other members of the winery team when available. This insider relationship is something we have built up over the years and makes our winelands tours special.

In other words we take you behind the barrels, learning what goes into each vintage, and why: why, for example has French or American oak been used, and how long has it been left on the wood. Those guests seeking deeper knowledge of the wines will be shown finer details of local terroir and winemaking techniques.

Some visitors will want in in-depth expositoin on Cape wines, others will want to soak in the atmosphere of the historic winelands of places such as Stellenbosch and Franschhoek with the added delight of tasting some fine wines along the way. Or perhaps to visit less popular but equally rewarding Wellington, Paarl or Constantia. An appreciation of the Cape Dutch architectural heritage, a special feature of the Cape Winelands, will be opened, with the option of eating lunch in one of these historic buildings.

Of special interest to some will be the modern trend to organic and biodiversity farming practices, as well as other environmentally friendly aspects (such as badger friendly honey production).
