By Special Arrangement:
Wine Estate and Cellar visits (4 hrs)
You will be collected from your hotel between 08h15 and 08h45. During the drive out to the winelands, you will be entertained with a comprehensive history of the South African wine industry, its structure and the various winemaking styles. Estates visited will feature a unique approach to viticulture (eg organic farming methods, biodiversity enhancement, award winning wines or community involvement) or winemaking (eg hand sorting methods for quality control, gravity flow winemaking methods and cellars that use natural yeast).
Along with the wine makers you will taste wines from tank and barrel as well as bottles.
Lunch (1 hour)
This will then be followed by lunch either with the winemaker in their homestead (this is dependant on time of the year), or a specially prepared picnic on the estate, or at a selected restaurant in the area.
Wine tasting (1.5 hours)
The last tasting for the day will be a look at the future of South African wine and the new trends developing in wine making styles. For example, cellars that are experimenting with new varietals or focussing on Mediterranean style wines.
You will return to the property at about 18h00
